  • 90 Days to Higher Self-Worth - Week 3
    2022/08/13

We are at Week #3 of my workbook, 90 Days to Higher Self-Worth.  I’m doing the daily exercises with you because I want to level up my life, and I need to walk the walk, not just talk the talk.

Week 3 is dedicated to developing motivation.  Finding the motivation to go after a goal is second only to having the confidence to believe you can have the results of achieving a goal.

We all have motivation, but motivation is reduced to wishful and self-delusional thinking without action.

If I say to myself, “I want to lose weight,” but take no action to change my diet or modify my exercise routines to meet my goal of losing weight, I am daydreaming.

You see, motivation exists in everyone.  The difference between those who use motivation as the fuel to get what they want is those who believe they are worthy of the goal.

Let’s consider my friend Kevin, who’s crazy about cacti.  His Instagram page is called Crazy about Cactus.  Kevin loves all things cacti and wanted to grow rare variants of cacti and sell them to his loving community.  Kevin has the motivation to sell rare breeds of cacti but did not see how he could grow them without investing in a serious greenhouse.  The thought of spending $1,000s on a hobby that might produce side hustle money was too far outside of his worthiness.

Kevin had the motivation to grow rare cacti but lacked the action - until he gained the confidence and belief that he was worthy of a beautiful greenhouse and the rare plants it would produce.

As soon as he took mental ownership of the greenhouse - the size, type, location, and cost - he could not find the motivation to make the dream a reality.

Kevin would say, “I just can’t find the motivation to work on my dream.”

One day, Kevin decided he wanted more than anything.  He wrote a short success statement - just for the greenhouse - that included its type, location, and size.  It went like this:

“My custom-built greenhouse is gorgeous! It is exactly what I needed to protect, grow and showcase my wonderful plants. The collaboration with NW Greenpanels was mutually beneficial, and I have influenced the Cactus & Succulent Community to consider them for their greenhouse builds. The build process was simple & smooth, and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the process. My plants have a beautiful home, and I am stoked!”

Kevin read this affirmation twice a day for 14 days when he discovered a way to pay for the greenhouse and get it installed.  The doors that appeared to be closed earlier were now open, and he could see the path clearly to realizing his dream.  60 days later, they were pouring the foundation.

Motivation appears when you take mental ownership of the dream - as if it has already occurred.  We naturally and effortlessly take action because we feel we deserve the outcome.

  • 90 Days to Higher Self-Worth - Week 2
    2022/08/06

On this show, we break down Week #2 of the 90 Days to Higher Self-Worth daily workbook. I am doing the workbook with you, week by week.  What I’ve learned is that self-worth can always be moved higher.  As we transition in life, our goals change.

When my children were young, I was focused on providing a safe home, contributing to the family income, and being a great father.  My purpose and mission changed as our kids grew up and moved out.  I no longer have the demands of daily fatherhood, allowing me to explore other opportunities and dreams.  Each season of life has different priorities, and we adjust to those changes by raising our self-worth to achieve the goals we want at that time in life.

Therefore, I need to walk the talk and discover my next barriers, so I am doing the 90 Days workbook with you.

This brings us to our topic of Week #2 - Confidence.

Confidence is ridiculously important to personal development.  As a society, we are naturally drawn to highly confident people.

I’m not talking about boastful or ego-driven people, I’m talking about people who know they are worthy of a good life, believe in themselves, and have the mindset to pursue it.

This week, my friend Carlos called me and wanted career advice.  He’s a recruiter of legal talent and finds the business tedious and unfulfilling.  Carlos called me in despair - frustrated that he had wasted time and energy in the headhunting industry and was killing him.

I said to Carlos, “What would a confident person do?”

Carlos was quiet.  I waited because I knew he knew the answer.

Finally, Carlos broke the silence and said, “A confident person would make a list of possible career opportunities and evaluate them.”

I said, “And then what would a confident person do?”

He said, “Probably run the list by friends I trust and get their input.”

    “And then what?” I said.

He was quiet again.  “I get it,” he said with a brighter tone and confidence.

“Carlos,” I said, “you know what to do.  If you do not have the confidence to move forward, ask yourself what a person with confidence would do.  We all know someone who is confident and believes in themselves.  Ask yourself, what would they do?”

Carlos is not alone. He is like 1000s of women and men I know who know what to do but lack the confidence and self-worth to move forward.

Let’s take a minute to break down how confidence is built.  Confidence has its roots in self-worth.  At the base of confidence is the awareness that we are worthy of an outcome or goal.  When we know we deserve the rewards of successfully achieving a goal, we naturally pursue the goal, because we deserve the rewards.

Taking mental ownership of the reward is the first step in building confidence.  When I say, “I have a career I love, and it pays me well,” I imprint on my mind the positive higher self-worth necessary to take ownership of a great, well-paying career.  Repeated over 90 days, my subconscious mind accepts the statement as real and repeats the confident language in my mind repeatedly, habitually, until it is real.  This process builds confidence through developing language that supports forward motion and achievement.

Confidence is also built as the result of achieving goals.  We write down the WINS from the prior day each day in the workbook.  This practice puts us in the habit of winning, a habit most of us have never learned.  The workbook helps us bring forward the positive higher self-worth emotions of confidence.

This week, write down three positive self-talk goals you want to accomplish.  I want to change the language I use to describe myself, specifically as a writer.  I want to change the emotions of “I am a poor writer” to “I am a good writer.”  This is a simple change and important for me.  Perhaps your changes are around meditation, exercise, or learning.  Maybe it has to do with body image.

Be sure to write your self-talk language goals for Week 2.

I hope you find a pace for this practice and develop a higher self-worth mindset.  Keep the workbook nearby to add to the daily exercises as you go through the day.

As always, feel free to reach out and ask me questions at info@motiveforlife.com.

Be sure to pick up my first book, The Bug in our Brain, on Amazon, Kindle, and Audible.

Finally, thank you for your support and love.

  • 90 Days to Higher Self-Worth - Workbook Week 1
    2022/07/31

In this podcast series, I dive into my new workbook - 90 Days to Higher Self-Worth.  If you do not have the workbook, go to www.HigherSelfWorth.com and order it directly.  You need the physical paperback workbook because it contains the exercises you use to raise your self-worth. You will write in the workbook throughout this podcast series, so having a Kindle or Audible version will not work.  You must have the workbook.

Also, I highly recommend that you learn the theory and technology of self-worth by reading or listening to “The Bug In Our Brain,” available on Amazon, Kindle, and Audible.  These are available at www.HigherSelfWorth.com.  With both these resources, you will have a solid grasp of the methods and techniques I use to raise self-worth and achieve the life of your dreams.

Today, I kick off the series with Week 1 of 90 Days to Higher Self-Worth.

The workbook is divided into three sections.  Each section is divided into weeks, and each week is divided into days.  Each section, week, and the day has exercises and readings.

You must read from the workbook and do the exercises daily.  The total time commitment is approximately 8 - 10 minutes per day.  You can do the exercises in the morning (which is my personal preference), or you can spread them out over the morning.  Do not postpone doing the exercises as the effects diminish later in the day.

If you forget to do your exercises, do not despair.  Go to the workbook and pick up where you left off.  Even if it has been a couple of days, pick up where you left off.  It may take you 110 days to complete the exercises.  The key to success is completing all 90 Days.

    Assessment of Self-Worth

In this podcast, I introduce the Self-Worth Assessment. In the back of the workbook is a section called Assessment. The Assessment section offers you a simple method of grading your self-worth at this moment.  Remember, you and only you determine self-worth.  No one can tell you what your self-worth is, only you can grade and determine your self-worth.  Using this tool, you’ll be able to grade your worthiness and use it as a reference when you complete the 90 Days.
