    CAMARILLO, Calif. (AP) — A fast-moving wildfire fueled by heavy winds is tearing through a community northwest of Los Angeles for a second day after destroying dozens of homes and forcing thousands of residents to flee when it exploded in size in only a few hours.

    BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Around 50 European leaders will be reassessing their trans-Atlantic relations in the hope that Donald Trump's second U.S. presidency will avoid the strife and political pitfalls of his first administration.

  • Final push before Election Day; music legend Quincy Jones dies

    WASHINGTON (AP) — Election Day marks the final chapter in one of the most bewildering, unpredictable and consequential sagas in political history. Now, Americans will choose between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. It may take days to know the final result, which could be just another surprise in a campaign that's been full of them.

    Quincy Jones has died at age 91. His publicist says he died Sunday night at his home in Los Angeles. Jones' historic career ranged from producing Michael Jackson’s record-setting “Thriller” to prize-winning film and television scores and collaborations with Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles.

    Unionized factory workers at Boeing are voting on Monday whether to accept a contract offer or to continue their strike. The walkout has lasted more than seven weeks, shut down production of most Boeing passenger planes and cut off a key source of cash for the company.

    Israel says it's terminated the agreement facilitating the work of the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees, the main aid provider in Gaza. It appears to be a first step to implement legislation passed last month that would sever ties with the agency and prevent it from operating in Israel. Israel says the agency, known as UNRWA, has been infiltrated by Hamas, while UNRWA denies the allegations.

    BEIJING (AP) — Three Chinese astronauts have returned to Earth after a six-month stay on China’s Tiangong space station.

    In entertainment news, Vice President Kamala Harris appears on "Saturday Night Live," rapper Young Thug is set free and it was a "Brat" summer.

    WASHINGTON (AP) — America’s employers added just 12,000 jobs in October, a total that economists say was held down by the effects of strikes and hurricanes that left many workers temporarily off payrolls. The report provided a somewhat blurry view of the job market at the end of a presidential race that has pivoted heavily on voters’ feelings about the economy.

    Democrat Kamala Harris says recent comments by her opponent, Republican Donald Trump, are “offensive” and that it’s clear he doesn’t understand women. Trump is traveling to New Mexico and Virginia in the campaign’s final days.

    MOSCOW (AP) — A court in Russia’s far-eastern city of Vladivostok has convicted a former U.S. Consulate worker charged with cooperating with a foreign state and sentenced him to four years and 10 months in prison. Robert Shonov, a Russian citizen and former employee of the U.S. Consulate in Vladivostok, was arrested in May 2023.

  • Americans anxious, frustrated about the election; Dodgers clinch World Series

    WASHINGTON (AP) — Most Americans are feeling a lot of emotions heading into Election Day, but excitement is not one of them. A new poll from The AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds that about 7 in 10 Americans report feeling anxious or frustrated about the 2024 presidential campaign, and a similar share say they’re interested. Only about one-third say they feel excited. About 7 in 10 Americans say “anxious” describes how they are feeling ahead of Tuesday.

    Donald Trump and Kamala Harris crisscrossed several swing states on Wednesday, passing each other in Wisconsin, where the former president appeared in Green Bay with a one-time local icon, retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre.     PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Philadelphia judge is set to hold a hearing in the city prosecutor’s bid to shut down Elon Musk’s $1 million-a-day sweepstakes in battleground states. The giveaways come from Musk’s political organization, which aims to boost Donald Trump’s presidential campaign through Election Day.
