Episode 06 - How To: Perform Your Best with Nick De Luca

Nick is a former international rugby player with over 250 professional matches, Commonwealth Games and World Cups and was at the sharp end of performance for almost a decade. Since retiring, Nick has found a new purpose, helping other be the best they can be; happy, healthy and high performing. This led him on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance, training and delivering as a mental health first aid instructor, into education and more recently as a coach. Nick is fascinated with the effects mindset can have on your wellbeing and also the body mind connection and the impact our physical health can have on our mental health. In this episode, John and Nick explore how to manage the mind in high-performance professional sports environments, the nature of mental wellbeing in education and how to leave your mark - your trace - on those around you.

    Caution: Contains references to suicide

Hi, I’m John, and we have something in common: a mind…

Six years ago I unexpectedly hit a major mental brick wall. I had no idea what it was or how to deal with it. Ever since I’ve been on a journey to learn all about the mind and how to manage it.

Through therapy, talking circles, deep (deep) conversation, mindfulness meditation, spirituality, personal research and much more besides, I’m fascinated with how people maintain their mental wellbeing.

Join me as I explore what it is we can do in the minutes, hours, days, months and years that make up our extraordinary lives to stay motivated, engaged and at peace with the world we live in.

John is a father, husband, co-founder of the mental wellbeing collective The Men Who:, ambassador for the Joshua Nolan Foundation and constant source of curiosity.
