O’Brien, a native of Pittsburgh, quickly became an honorary Mountaineer who cherishes West Virginians and thinks of Pittsburgh as a suburb of Morgantown. The General and Morgan discuss the process of rebranding Hope Gas and the value of West Virginia as a place to do business.

    Foodbanks in West Virginia work with hunters to donate deer meat to the foodbanks to help those served by the foodbanks. The Department of Agriculture report this week explains the program.

    In the final segment we learn about Christmas plans in three Ohio River communities, Ravenswood, Point Pleasant and Gallia County.

Mara is an army veteran and former state director for Senator US Senator Joe Manchin, and she heads up the Charleston Area Alliance, Ken is also an army veteran who served Afghanistan and now serves in the Army National Guard.     The Department of Agriculture’s Rooted in the Mountain State segment shares the story of Gritts Farms a staple in the agriculture area. Their products are found in grocery stores and farmers markets across the region.

    Last Monday at Point Pleasant High School there was a Game Changer’s event where community members, educators and student came together to network and educate the public on available resources. They also had a motivational and life lesson speaker Frederick Shegog share his path to sobriety and provide insight.

    At the Leadership Table with Retired Major General Jim Hoyer this week is the first woman chair of the Mountaineer Area Boy Scouts of America, Amy Garbrick. Amy has also served in important roles in higher education for nearly 20 years. Amy and the General discuss her leadership insights along with the roles scouting holds in building our communities and shared future in the Mountain State.

    We will learn about the Department of Agriculture’s Bug Museum it is unlike any other museum.

    Earlier this month Constellium who has large operation in Millwood West Virginia and Fairplain elementary near Ripley West Virginia announced they are participating in an effort to collect 2 million aluminum cans for recycling.

    Normally this is a politics free zone, however in West Virginia there is a constitutional amendment on the General Election Ballot that would constitutionally ban physician assisted suicide in West Virginia. Aside from all the ethical questions that go along with such a measure, under the current state code, physician assisted suicide is illegal. There is also a fine line between physician assisted suicide and end of life directives such as living wills. To get a clear understanding of the measure, we turned to State Senator Ryan Weld who is the current Vice Chair of West Virginia State Senate Judiciary Committee, he represents the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia.
