A purpose driven humanitarian, social impact entrepreneur, innovator of sustainable solutions, author and keynote speaker, today we talk to Simon Doble.
Part of the genesis behind why we launched the Turnaround Mindset podcast was being able to positively and accurately capture those turnaround moments that occur in the lives of the amazing individuals we interview that helps define and drive who they and what they become. For our guest today that moment came in October 11, 2011, while reading a Time Magazine article detailing the devastating effects of energy poverty.
Energy poverty condemns and effects more than 1.4 billion people worldwide and kills more women and children than Aids & Malaria combined. Determined to make a difference, this article changed the course of Simon’s life. Simon’s mission is to educate & inspire millions of people to be agents of change to end extreme energy poverty and its unjust cycle of effects by 2030.
Simon is the inventor and founder of SolarBuddy (SolarBuddy | Illuminating Futures) an impact organisation uniting a global community to illuminate the futures of all children. SolarBuddy strives to provide opportunities for all children and believes, that for future generations to thrive, we must create a world where no-one is left behind.
Simon was a founding member of the Moving Energy Initiative of Chatham House in London UK; and also helped to establish the Global Off-Grid Lighting Association in Africa. In 2015 Simon founded a bamboo push bike enterprise, now known as WYLD Bikes, a social enterprise helping provide quality employment in Ghana whilst supporting disadvantaged youth in Australia through meaningful employment.
Simon has presented his keynote addresses to over 70,000 people globally. A father of three himself, Simon is also a highly successful author of the OH NO MO! Smarty Safety Series collection of children’s books designed to teach safety to children in a fun engaging way.
Simon’s, perseverance & determination is truly admiring and the honesty and vulnerability he shares with us today makes this podcast episode today unforgettable.
