Marty Lyons spent his entire 11-year career with the Jets, securing 43 sacks and was inducted into the Jets ring of honor.
In the interview, Lyons and Tommy discuss the new documentary that was greenlit by ESPN that highlights the Sack Exchange group from the 1980's. Lyons gives his thoughts on how the documentary will go, and gives a little insight on the to rest of the players. He also explains why he believes Abdul Salaam should be inducted into the Jets' ring of honor - the only member of the Sack Exchange who has yet to be inducted.
Moving ahead, Tommy asks Lyons what the biggest difference is between back when he was a player, to now. The first thing Lyons' mentions is free agency - and the fact that when he was playing, it did not exist. That leads to a quick discussion about Edge Rusher Haason Reddick, who has yet to report to the Jets in an attempt to receive a new contract.
Next, the two discuss Aaron Rodgers, his return from injury and what he brings to the Jets. Doing so, they come across the fact that Week 3 against the New England Patriots is Rodgers' first time at Metlife Stadium since his injury. Lyons gives his take on the Patriots, and the keys for the Jets to win this game.
Finally, the two discuss the Marty Lyons Foundation, Lyons' charity. Founded in 1982 while still playing with the Jets, the Marty Lyons Foundation helps children with terminally ill or life-threatening illnesses. To date, the foundation has grown to 14 states, has raised over $43 million, and has helped more than 8,500 families.
