Episode 36 - Is My Family's Toxic Behavior Holding Me Back?

It can be difficult to fully understand and accept when anyone is holding you back from living the life you want to live and to achieve the things you want, especially from family; but what happens once you have figured things out?

The second step is to take action on their limiting beliefs about you.  Confronting them can be difficult, but the discomfort that you and they will go through is worth the healing that you must have to be happy.

In this episode, Shaun shares an email from a listener precisely about this topic and discusses the limiting behavior tied to toxic or narcissistic traits that some family members have, and how this negatively impacts our relationships with them and ourselves.

What do you do when you’re left with a seemingly insurmountable goal?  Listen to find out.

This episode is a continuation of the series that includes the following episodes:

Episode 35 - Safety in Family

This episode is a continuation of the series that includes the episodes “Am I a Bad Person?”, “Integrity”, and “Is Blood Thicker than Water?

The familial environment is important to so many, especially during this time of the year where we plan to spend time with family.  It’s typically a place of comfort and joy.  A place where you can feel safe.

But what happens if you don’t feel safe in that environment?  What were the causes of that?  Did you do something to foster that way of being?  Did others impose their will on you?  Is there anything you can do to change it?

In this episode, Shaun goes into detail about safety and what it means, and more importantly, identifying the people in your life who belong and the ones who don’t belong; how to identify them; how to keep your sanity; and the steps to take to ensure “safety in family” becomes your reality.

This episode is a continuation of the series that includes the episodes “Am I a Bad Person?” and “Integrity.”

    But is it?

In this episode, Shaun goes into detail and invites you to take an approach that very few people are discussing–one that centers around you so that you take care of yourself first and be happy.  Doing that will allow you to see the world around you through a healthy lens and make the decisions about your relationships that you should make.

    Episode 33 - Integrity

This episode is a continuation of the previous episode titled “Am I a Bad Person?”

We often are in relationships with family, friends, romantic partners, and even ourselves that lead us to abandoning who we are and who we want to be.  In this episode, Shaun describes what it is and what it means to go against the grain and live the integrous character you’re meant to be.

In spite of what others say or think about you, you can break the mold they’ve created for you.  Instead, you can forge the path that you manifest for yourself to live a happy and peaceful life.

The Intentionally Emotive Podcast with Shaun Karim

    Episode 32 - Am I a Bad Person?

When people hurt you, whether intentional or not, they often want to make sure that the pain they give you is greater than the pain they have living with themselves.  So when you’ve gone through all of the trials and tribulations, all of the drama, the abuse, and have come out of it on the other end still a survivor, they will do what they can to make sure you still question to yourself, “Am I a bad person?”

In this episode, Shaun lays the groundwork of the genesis of this toxicity, the abuse, the narcissist that you had to leave, and calls out the specific traits and strengths that made you who you are today–not just a survivor, but a conqueror.

The Intentionally Emotive Podcast with Shaun Karim

Episode 31 - The Five Toxic People to Avoid in a Relationship

The pain, agony, and betrayal of infidelity is one of the harshest things anyone could ever go through.  The fact that someone we believe cared for and loved us would cause that harm can leave you feeling helpless and without understanding how to move forward.

The best predictor of our future is our past.

You can use someone else’s experiences for your own gain.

In this episode, Shaun lists out the five types of people to avoid in a relationship, including how to identify them, the unique traits that make up who they are, and how they can reel you in.

By identifying who to avoid, you’ll automatically open yourself up more easily to the people who you may find yourself in a long-term romantic relationship with–success!

  • Episode 30 - Express Value and Compassion aka A Case Against Incel Johnny Deven Young
    2022/10/19

In this episode, Shaun breaks down a news report about self-proclaimed incel Johnny Deven Young where he calls out the actions and behavorial patterns of not only Johnny, but the LA County Councilman as well.

    Why?

Because they’re both exhibiting behaviors that go against living a life of good intention, of continuously working on yourself to be better than you were yesterday, and respecting yourself and others.

Shaun goes into specific details and calls out both individuals for their actions and ties this into how you can properly be you and live a life high value and compassion.

  • Episode 29 - Do They Love Me or is it Ego?
    2022/10/12

    2022-Oct-12

The Intentionally Emotive Podcast with Shaun Karim

Episode 29 - Do They Love Me or is it Ego?

There is a fine line between Love and Ego that can be difficult to identify unless you know the pitfalls and characteristics of the person with whom you’re in that relationship.

In this episode, Shaun goes over a message he recently received from someone in his past that made him ponder the differences between the two and the work it takes to fully understand how to identify this in a relationship.

Living your life with intention–to use your emotions to your advantage–is intense work, but if you’re willing to commit to yourself, doors in your life begin to open, including vastly improving the relationship with yourself and the people you care for.
