  • Hello, and welcome to Outlandish, a new podcast for trail runners and other outlandish folk.

My name is Ed Scott, and I’m a trail runner and person living in London. There are a lot of awesome trail running and adventure podcasts out there which I love to listen to, but I decided to put this podcast together because I felt like there was a bit of a gap in the market.

You see, as much as I love mountainous landscapes and remote, wild places, the reality is that, as a Londoner, most of my running takes place in the UK’s most crowded corner. Whether I’m linking up green spaces around the city or heading further afield to places like the North and South Downs or the Chiltern Hills, my trail running experience is largely defined by a particular kind of landscape, one which is as much defined by mother nature as it is by human beings, whether in the form of agriculture, transport, infrastructure - you get the gist.

I know I’m not alone, which is why I started this podcast. There’s a growing trail running scene in London and the south east, full of interesting, passionate people, and I wanted the chance to talk to them about living and running in this part of the world.

For this first series, I spoke to event organisers, clothing manufacturers, and of course athletes themselves doing amazing things in the trail running world. A new episode will be released every Saturday morning, just in time for your weekly long run.

Podcasting is a new venture for me, so you might spot some ups and downs in terms of audio quality, editing, and my own presenting and interviewing skills. But I’ve learned a great deal putting this together, and hopefully you enjoy the conversations as much as I did.

If you want to find out more, you can find the podcast on Instagram and Facebook under outlandish.run, or head to the website I’ve built - also a new venture for me - which is also outlandish.run

I’m already putting feelers out for series two, so if you’ve got a great trail running or adventure story to tell or you know someone who you think would be great on this podcast, drop me a line on social media or email me at hello@outlandish.run
