  • Tunnel Vision is Killing Your Leadership - Here's How To Fix It | JP Dinnell Podcast 077

EPISODE 77 – DETACH, LEAD, AND WIN: MASTERING LEADERSHIP UNDER PRESSURE

In this episode of The JP Dinnell Podcast, JP dives into one of the most powerful yet underrated leadership skills: detachment. Whether you’re leading a business, a team, or your family, the ability to step back, assess the situation, and make clear, unemotional decisions is the difference between success and failure.

Drawing from his experience as a Navy SEAL, business leader, and instructor at Echelon Front, JP breaks down why most leaders struggle under pressure and how detachment is the key to overcoming stress, ego, and tunnel vision. He shares real-life stories from the battlefield, business, and training that highlight the importance of staying calm, controlling emotions, and seeing the full picture before making decisions.

If you’ve ever found yourself reacting emotionally, making rash decisions, or feeling overwhelmed by leadership responsibilities, this episode is a wake-up call. JP lays out a step-by-step framework for mastering detachment and explains why leaders who fail to detach will always fall short.
🔥 Key Lessons from This Episode:

✔️ Why detachment is the #1 leadership skill no one talks about
✔️ How to stay calm and in control, even in high-pressure situations
✔️ The dangers of tunnel vision and how to see the full battlefield
✔️ How ego clouds decision-making – and how to remove it
✔️ Why emotional leadership is a death sentence for teams and businesses
✔️ How Navy SEAL training teaches leaders to detach and think clearly
✔️ The balance between tactical patience and taking decisive action
    💡 Key Takeaways:

✔️ Your emotions will betray you. Leaders who react emotionally instead of stepping back and analyzing the situation make poor decisions and lose control. Detachment gives you the clarity to lead effectively.

✔️ Slow down to speed up. When leaders rush into decisions without full awareness of the battlefield, they make mistakes that could have been avoided. Tactical patience allows you to make smarter, more effective moves.

✔️ Ego is the enemy of leadership. The moment you start leading based on pride or personal emotions, you’re no longer making the best decision for your team. Detachment removes ego from the equation and puts the mission first.

✔️ Mastering detachment is a daily discipline. It’s not something you do once—it’s a constant practice that applies to business, leadership, Jiu-Jitsu, relationships, and life.

✔️ Business leaders, entrepreneurs, and executives who want to make better decisions under pressure
