He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen. (1 Timothy 6:15-16)
R.C. Sproul states: “When we say ‘Jesus is King,’ we are declaring that all authority in heaven and on earth belongs to Him. Every knee will bow to Him, either now in reverence or in the future at judgment.” (R.C. Sproul, “The Holiness of God”) All the kings mentioned in the Old Testament and in the modern age will bow before Jesus.
Charles Spurgeon states this about Christ as King: “If Christ be King, He has dominion over our hearts and lives. Every Christian is called to bow to Him in every area, recognizing no higher authority than the King of kings.” (Charles H. Spurgeon, Sermon #508, “The King’s Highway Opened and Cleaned)
