  • Abolish Australia Day
    2022/02/26

In this episode of Koori Mail News, Ngunawal journalist Nick Paton has a yarn with Palawa woman Jillian Mundy about calls to Abolish Australia Day.

Nick yarns with Jillian about her recent article in the Koori Mail Newspaper about an online Invasion Day rally that Jillian attended in person. Organised and hosted by the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre and held on Lutruwita Country in Tasmania on January 26, the event was live-streamed around the world to thousands of people.

Nick and Jillian discuss why January 26 is considered to be such an issue as the years roll on since colonisation, and why so many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are offended by the idea of Australia Day and what the day represents.
