A great day to start is coming up Thursday. It’s “Bring Your Bible Day” to school! To work! You name it.The possibilities are endless! • The Quickest to Anger Are Often the Slowest to Forgive – Erika Allen
    2024/09/30

If there is any phrase that does not describe the world we live in—or our own natural, response to offenses—“slow to anger” is it. Left by ourselves, every minor slight is more offensive than it truly is. We get mad fast and our anger lingers. When someone upsets us, we want an apology, and we want it yesterday. Forgiveness and being “slow to anger” are closely related. The truth is, we would have less to forgive if we weren’t so quick to get irritated. Anger clouds our thoughts and makes us believe that things are true even when they aren’t. And that leads to a convicting thought: The quickest to anger are often the slowest to forgive!

  • Making Everyday Decisions For God’s Glory – Dr. James Spencer
    2024/09/24

To make God-glorifying decisions, we will often need to reject the world’s wisdom. Our guest this morning put it this way: “Saying that we don’t know how to make everyday decisions that glorify God does not mean Christians never make such decisions. Instead, it means that the decisions we make are often informed by cultural conventions; stories that distort, if not deny, the triune God. Our decision-making cannot depend on such conventions.” Dr. James Spencer from the D.L. Moody Center stopped by and helped us zero in on this!

  • 4 Categories of Doctrinal Weight in Christian Theology – Doug Eaton
    2024/09/23

Some Christian doctrines are weightier than others. When discussing Christian theology, many of us have heard the helpful quote attributed to Augustine, “In the essentials, unity, in the non-essentials liberty, and in all things charity.” There is much to be learned from this quote, but did you know that many Bible teachers identify four different categories of doctrinal weight? Our good friend Doug Eaton helped us with this when he stopped by this morning.

    2024/09/20

After five years, Kurt and Kate took to the road and returned to Lighthouse Ministries Family Store in Brandon! They've recently renovated that location, and it was wonderful to reconnect with the ministry to get an update on all their services that include residential programs, feeding and sheltering the homeless, and outreach centers within their thrift stores to assist low-income and at-risk families in West Central Florida. The Lord is on the move in and through this ministry, as lives are being touched in powerful ways with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

  • Suicide: When Hope Runs Out – Jon Noyes
    2024/09/19

Why would a person take his own life, especially a young person who has so much to live for? When our natural instinct is to do everything in our power to preserve and protect our personal well-being, why would anyone kill himself? Suicide, though, doesn’t end all pain because it is never a solitary act with a single consequence of a life ended. When one person takes his/her life, a host of other lives are sucked into the vortex. Every person who commits suicide leaves others behind lamenting the loss, sometimes for the rest of their lives—colleagues and friends, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives, children. Jon Noyes, from the ministry Stand to Reason, joined us and shared that suicide has impacted his own family and explains how this topic goes far deeper than an academic conversation.
