Latoya Allen is a passionate educator and mother with over twenty years of experience, spending more than half of her professional career in the admission sphere. In 2017, with her expansive admission knowledge, expertise, and a deep desire to circulate educational awareness, Latoya founded the access organization ACES (Admission Consultant & Educational Services). In her daily interactions with families, Latoya noticed many families, specifically Black and Brown families, were novices who struggled to properly navigate the independent school admission process. ACES was established to share valuable knowledge, allowing families to utilize the information to attain access and to build long-term supportive relationships. Latoya works at the intersection of awareness and access entwined with Diversity Equity, Inclusion, and Justice. As a trained SEED (Seeking Educational Equity & Diversity) facilitator, Latoya has led diversity-focused workshops for adults and co-developed a lower school affinity group for students of color. Latoya's commitment to DEIJB coupled with her passion for access and awareness makes admission work and the development of ACES heart work! A proud islander, Latoya was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and raised in The Bronx. Latoya is also an Independent School parent who has first-hand experience regarding the positive impact education has on building wealth and creating a legacy across family generations. The dedication she brings to ACES is both personal and professional!
