Listening through Connection with Cassidy Hall

  • サマリー

  • Welcome to the second episode of The Listening Way.  In this episode, Dusk is joined by Cassidy Hall.

Cassidy Hall is an author, filmmaker, podcaster, student, and trained counselor.
She works as a Teaching Assistant at Christian Theological Seminary where she is studying for her MDiv and MTS degrees. In 2012, while working as a counselor and reading Thomas Merton’s New Seeds of Contemplation, Cassidy made a pilgrimage to all seventeen Trappist/Cistercian Monasteries of the United States.  While there, she wrote, interviewed monks and nuns, and photographed her entire experience within these seventeen spaces.

Born and raised in Iowa, Cassidy moved to Los Angeles in 2013 to work on the production team of the documentary feature film In Pursuit of Silence.

Her podcast, Encountering Silence, with co-hosts Carl McColman and Kevin Johnson features interviews with contemplatives, modern-day mystics, and explores the ambiguity of silence in our modern-day lives. Her recent solo-podcast, Contemplating Now, is a Podcast Exploring the Intersection of Contemplation and Social Justice featuring scholars, activists, and mystics.

    In the episode we discover:

    • Navigating big emotions as a child
    • Finding yourself in the silence
    • Listening through silence and contemplation
    • Silence as a teacher of patience
    • Using silence to engage with social justice
    • How anything we ‘know’ will change, evolve & move on
    • The power of a personal affirmation practice

    Thank you for listening!

The Listening Way is a love letter to listening.  It holds contemplative conversations on how listening shapes our way of being in the world.  The podcast uncovers the different ways that we listen and invites us to practice them again.  Hosted by Dusk Liney from The Listening Squad, where we dream of a listening revolution where every person is heard.
Let’s reclaim the lost art of listening.
