  • Ep 3: Hunger, Food Deserts, and Poverty | Evelyn Figueroa, Pilsen Food Pantry
    2022/09/09

You heard last episode about Chicago activist Griffen Saul, who founded the nonprofit ‘We Are Able’ in tribute to his father, Brad Saul, who passed away in December, 2015 after losing a lifelong battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was generous enough to pledge a future donation to our work, which will be revealed in a future episode.

On the third episode of Little Wins, we feature fellow Chicago nonprofit leader Evelyn Figueroa, who has spent her entire career caring for vulnerable populations as both a medical doctor, and the executive co-director of the Figueroa Wu Family Foundation - a nonprofit that provides funding for the Pilsen Food Pantry in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, the Clothes Closet, which provides free clothing to children and the homeless, and the Pilsen Free Little Library, a book pickup and dropoff where neighborhood residents can acquire books to read or donate their own, and distributes over 100 books per week to encourage reading as a life skill in impoverished households.
