EVs are, hands down, a better choice for those ready to start driving a personal, or commercial vehicle. EVs cost less to own and operate on average, with some exceptions of course. EVs cost less to maintain because there are generally less systems to maintain. Also, charging an EV is still cheaper than gasing up your car. It is relatively expensive, it requires many commodities often not afforded by the poor, such as a permanent owned residence in a stand alone building. And, the financial incentives that often accompany renewable energy installations, are largely inaccessible by the poor.
