  • Tips For Improving Fitness As An "Everyday Athlete"
    2024/09/09

The mission that I talk about so much involved being the best athlete as possible. This requires an athlete mindset. Most of you understand what I mean by that, but if you don't then we need to take you back to high school.

You see yourself as an athlete, you have the desire to perform at a high level, but lets be honest...most of us are not the elite of the elite. Most of us are the normal, and success for us means being better than our yesterday self.

In this episode, I give my top 5 tips to improving your fitness as an everyday kind of athlete.

  • Luke Parker (Giant Killer) shares Faith, Family, and Fitness Journey
    2024/09/02

On this episode I got to sit down with Luke Parker. Luke is an extraordinary man. He loves God, loves his family, and is passionate about the sport of fitness. He happens to be a 3x CrossFit games athlete, and a friend.

We talk faith first, starting with his journey. This portion of our conversation when hard and we got to talk about some deep stuff in regard to our faith as men.

We also dive into family life. At this point, Luke's wife, Jennifer, was due with their first baby boy anytime. At the time of launching this episode, Judah will have been born!

We wrap this up with some fitness talk. Luke is one of the fittest humans on planet earth right now, but we talk about how regardless of your fitness level we all know what it is like to put past our limits and GROW.

Thank you, Luke, for adding value to the Mission Made podcast.

  • 5 Tips to Bulletproof Your Spiritual Training Disciplines
    2024/08/26

On this episode, I dive into 5 tips to make sure your spiritual training disciplines happen consistently. We love training physically. I believe there is even a calling to train physically. But even more than important than physical training, is spiritual training. With spiritual training, there is value not just for this age but the age to come (1 Timothy 4:8).

Here are some tips that have worked really well for me. I believe that if you commit yourself to these tips, it will 100% improve your consistency in spiritual disciplines like reading God's word.

    Here they are:

    1) Get a solid devotional that will help "kick start" your Bible time and point you to God's word.

    2) Set a 1 rep minimum, or the standard that you are committed to uphold REGARDLESS of what life throws at you.

    3) Find men to commit to God's word with you. These men will both motivate you by their discipline and they will hold you accountable to stay on the path. (habit share is a great resource)

    4) Own it when you don't show up, or you miss a day. The "red x" will help you stay on the path if you own it.

    5) Value God's Word. 1-4 were all external, practical tips. This one is internal. I can't tell you how to do this. But this must be true. Do what you need to do, to get yourself to a place where you value God's word.

BONUS: Carve some time each week to reflect on your time. Daily discipline will produce great fruit in us over time. However, with daily discipline, it is easy for routine to set in. We don't want to make our time with the Lord just a check on our list. Carving time to make sure that isn't happening will help you not only stay disciplined, but also get the most out of your discipline.

If this is helpful, please share it with a friend. We need more men who are committed to growing with God's word.
