In Episode 3 of the podcast MUMEx (Music Multiverse Exploration) - A New Sound Cosmology by Louis Siciliano, we embark on an immersive journey through the Harmonikalis Space, an imaginary realm where every sound and melody projects itself at precise intervals, forming dynamic interactions in a musical Multiverse. In this Multiverse, musical Universes can either flow parallel at fixed or variable intervals, mirror each other like reflections, or intertwine, creating unexpected harmonic formations.
We are introduced to Asteroids, intervallic points that act as bridges between Universes, radiating musical energy and enhancing the sonic fabric of the Multiverse. The concept encourages experimentation with specific intervals to form new musical connections.
Not all is orderly in the Multiverse; there's also a Chaotic Space, a dimension of unpredictability and dissonance. The composer invites us to explore this space for its creative potential and integrate chaos with the order of the Harmonikale Space.
We encounter Systems (SY), symmetrical musical structures generating palindromic melodies, and Nebulae, vector forces connecting different dimensions, resembling clouds of sound that expand and contract. Galaxies represent melodic structures of at least three notes, which move like star clusters, each with its own gravitational pull. These galaxies can interact in parallel, mirror-like, or intertwined manners.
The Sound Aggregate Blocks (SAB) serve as the foundation of harmony, which can be shifted across Harmonikale Space through a commutative force, leading to innovative harmonic connections. Transitions between SABs are fluid, like particles with energy and direction, allowing organic musical movements.
The Seven Stages of Quantum Expansion introduce cyclical rhythmic pulsations, while Structural Axes guide our exploration as archetypal landmarks in the Multiverse. The Microcosm then takes us into the world of microsounds, where deep listening reveals the infinite timbral nuances within every sound.
Finally, the episode introduces Qunotes, a concept by Jean-Claude Heudin, where musical notes exist in a quantum superposition and only collapse into a defined value when played, bringing randomness and creative possibilities into music. The Cosmic Spiral suggests an endless path of musical exploration, while Spatial Corridors, secret chromatic pathways, open up new dimensions within harmonic space.
This journey invites us to break conventional rules, embrace creativity, and understand music as a universal language connected to the essence of the cosmos.
