Why is it that some people are able to defend a viral attack and others are not? Why is it that some children develop autism, or suffer a severe reaction to a vaccine – while others do not? And why do some people react to certain medications – while others have no reaction at all? According to some researchers’ molecular mimics or snippets of protein code from foreign pathogens like bacteria, viruses and vaccines become a Trojan horse tricking the body into activating or over-activating an immune response. Molecular mimicry has been implicated in vaccine adverse reactions and in the onset of Type 1 Diabetes, Lupus, MS, neurological and other chronic diseases. Some researchers argue that molecular mimicry abounds and other factors exist to predispose one to disease or adverse reactions. Which is it? What are those ‘other factors’? Find out more about the interaction between molecular mimicry, healthy immune functioning and vaccine/drug adverse reactions on April 3rd.
