このコンテンツについて

We get running. As runners, physical therapists specializing in running medicine, and educators we know that there is more to running than meets the eye. We know and believe that an athlete's success is so much more than their body or their sport. Looking at and caring for the running athlete through a wider lens allows them to be well within and beyond their sport. We want to help widen the lens, shed some light and empower runners and healthcare providers through story telling and expert interviews.

Our podcast will drop twice a month, on Wednesdays.

  • 74. The Interdisciplinary Approach Behind Atlanta Track Club Elite
    2025/06/11
In this episode of More Than Miles, Kate and Kacy pull back the curtain on what it really means to be part of the medical and performance (MAPP) team supporting the Atlanta Track Club Elite. Since 2021, they've been embedded in the day-to-day care of some of the country’s top middle-distance runners—building a one-of-a-kind interdisciplinary model that prioritizes prevention, performance, and athlete well-being. From weekly strategy calls with physicians, dietitians, and sports psychologists, to in-the-trenches strength training sessions and trackside treatment, Kate and Kacy explain how this integrated care model has helped reduce injury rates and elevate athlete performance.

They also share how the MAPP team evolved from cautious beginnings to a trusted, high-performing unit—and why this collaborative approach has become a gold standard for elite athlete care. You’ll hear behind-the-scenes stories, challenges of managing elite training loads, and why even pro runners need help with heel raises and hamstring strains. Whether you're an athlete, coach, clinician, or fan of high-performance sport, this episode offers a candid and inspiring look at what it takes to keep pros healthy, happy, and fast.

  • 73. The Boston Marathon: One Race, Two Experiences
    2025/05/28
In this special episode of More Than Miles, Kate and Kacy reflect on their very different—yet deeply personal—experiences at the 2025 Boston Marathon. Kacy, running her seventh Boston, shares the highs and lows from the course, from the nostalgic energy of Heartbreak Hill to the emotional charge of Boylston Street. Kate, who’s run Boston three times herself, was on the other side of the barricades this year—working in the finish line medical tent as part of the massive team supporting thousands of runners crossing the line.

Together, they bring two perspectives to one unforgettable race day: the physical and emotional grind of running Boston, and the organized chaos of caring for runners in distress. They also dive into stories from years past, race-day mishaps, and the reasons this race continues to inspire and humble them both. Whether you're chasing a BQ or just soaking in the vibe, this episode captures what makes Boston more than just a marathon—it’s a rite of passage.
