    Feels like no words will do justice to explain how privileged I felt to be part of the discussion.     Counter culture as defined by wikipedia "“A counterculture is a culture whose values and norms of behavior differ substantially from those of mainstream society, sometimes diametrically opposed to mainstream cultural mores.” So essentially if you're not following the traditional profession in your community - you're going counter culture.
