Nice Girls Finish... First?!

  • We all know the saying, "Nice guys finish last" - but really, do nice guys (and girls, of course - I mean, come on, I'm a woman myself) actually finish last? Here's my two cents on this question: (That is, if you're even interested in hearing my opinion. To you, I'm just another stranger. You may not know me - yet - but I can ensure you that my positive and comical view on love and dating mishaps has a 69% chance of making you laugh.) Now, where was I? -"Nice guys finish last" sounds so negative, when in fact, it should be looked at positively. Today's "nice guy" or "nice girl" surely beats any arrogant and selfish "player". Right? Right! (Man, I really need to start remembering my own dating advice! Maybe then, I'll succeed.) I'm no love-expert (in fact, I'm the exact opposite of an expert in the category of dating and relationships), but I am a living, breathing human-being; therefore, I feel over-qualified. Capturing the attention of a "player" has a high probability for ending in heartbreak. So, why do we do it? Why do we chase the ONLY person that doesn't give us attention, when in fact, we have a plethora of options to choose from right at our finger tips? It's simply the law of attraction! I figure that we have all been -lucky- enough to endure our fair share of this. Yes, I said "lucky". Fortunately for us, we've all learned extremely valuable lessons along the (what may sometimes feel like, an ever-lasting) road. Most likely, at some point in our lives, we have all played the role of both the "player" and the quote-on-quote "nice guy". I have dated both and I have been both. I don't choose this, it just happens. That's life! Fortunately, life is hard. Have you ever heard that statement? Even I shock myself (in a good way). We must all lose, in order to feel the joy of winning. Over the past few years I have learned that I am a nice girl and I don't play games. This is why I have already finished, first. I found love, from within. Sounds so cheesy. I'm actually lactose intolerant to an extent. No joke, this time! For me, now, I like to view my life based upon one simple statement, "Nice girls finish...FIRST". The nicer I am to myself, the faster I succeed. The more I work on not letting other's opinions of me have value, the further I thrive. I will continue to patiently approach anything negative, positively. I will not ignore the pain, the lessons, and the mistakes - I will, in turn, embrace them! I've definitely had my fair share of love and dating mishaps, and -obviously- still do. Nobody is perfect. Not me. Not you. But remember - after every rain, flowers bloom. I'm young, I'm 27 and I am enduring a quarter-life crisis full of beautiful flowers. I have a full life ahead of me, and I am in no rush to find prince charming. My dog is all the charming I need for now! I always tend to have a positive outlook on anything negative, and you'll learn that if you tune-in to some of my podcasts. Come on a journey with me - a journey of laughter! I want to make light of my past experiences, laugh at my current situation and relax about the fact that I am a single woman that has lived alone with her dog for the past few years. I hope that sharing some of my water will bring others nourishment. Over the years, friends and strangers have mentioned I should be a counselor, or a comedian (oh wait, maybe that one was just me). I am here, to combine my love for life and laughter, and use social platforms for GOOD. Enough reading! Sit back, relax and start listening! (Prepare yourself, as my voice tends to sound obnoxious when it is recorded. It's just another laughable object.) Grab some friends, grab a drink & cheers with me - to love and all its' fucked-up lessons! Do you dare to listen?
