This homily seeks to help us place our current situations--our hopes, our fears, our joys, and our anxieties--within the larger context of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I have drawn on a number of commentaries and resources, not the least of which is "Synthesis," a periodical for preaching published by Sewanee in the 1980's and 1990's.
