After dedicating 30 years to the field of chemistry, he made a significant career shift to become a speechwriter and advisor for Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin, later transitioning to a Senior Adviser role in the Trump Administration. Skates is also the author of four novels and has written over 300 articles and short stories, showcasing his wide-ranging talents and expertise.
