  • Petersfield Council call for help to plant trees and hedgerows in Bells Hill
    2024/11/14

    It's National Tree Week from November 23 to December 1.

    The Tree Council have provided trees and hedgerow to improve the recreation area in Bells Hill and also replace some of the trees lost to Elm Disease.

    The Council are asking for volunteers to help on Saturday 30 November between 10am and 3pm.

    Mike Waddington spoke to Town Councillor Ann Stephenson and Phil Paulo from the Tree Council.

    They speak about the event, working with FitzRoy who were commissioned to develop tree management skills and some of their locally grown trees will be planted in Bells Hill on 30 November.

  • Resident concerned about the Breast Screening Service moved from Petersfield
    2024/11/13

    Mary Downes found her usual appointment for Breast screening was moved from Petersfield to Havant.

    The service, having not heard from the usual venue (Tesco's), did not consider other Petersfield bases for the car park service.

    Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust have been asked to commented and we will publish their response.

  • Interview with Helen and Richard Salisbury of Pens of the Earth

    Richard Salisbury and Helen are co-founders of the Hampshire-based literary environmental group Pens of the Earth and co-editors of the book Wild Seas, Wilder Cities - published on 21st October 2024, available from One Tree Books, Petersfield (and other independent book sellers).

    All proceeds from the sales of Wild Seas, Wilder Cities go to Hampshire and Wildlife Trust's vitally important Solent Seagrass Restoration Project. Everyone involved with the book has donated their time and expertise.

  • Salvation Army, the foodbank and Agencies Together prepare Christmas hampers and toys
    2024/11/12

    The Salvation Army and the Foodbank are once again, providing hampers and toys to those in need.

    Last year 130 hampers were provided and 40 children had presents delivered.

    Local agencies - who work through Agencies Together - have until 6 December to nominate people.

    Mike Waddington spoke to the Salvation Army's Steve Field about the project.
