  • C's Get Degrees
    2024/10/09

This week on Pits & Peaks we're wrapping up part 2 of the two parter where Courtney & Victoria dive into their college experiences. Victoria is spending time sharing how she ended up being an SDSU Aztec, soaking up the time without declaring a major (you learn so much more without a major!), how barely graduating still counts as graduating and no matter how many French classes you take sometimes you just can't learn a new language. If you ever wondered if people really had college obsessions like Rory in Gilmore Girls, tune into find out the dream school Victoria's dad had his sights on but somehow that STEM path he envisioned for her just wasn't going to work out.

  • The Pecking Order of Chickens and College
    2024/09/25

This week we're taking it back to a time when Adele had us rolling in the deep, Beyonce was becoming a mom and Courtney was heading off to college. This will be a two parter, so get ready to laugh (and maybe throw up) during part 1 when Courtney takes a walk down memory lane. Her obsession with volleyball got her a full ride to college, but the rest she had to figure out on her own including stopping her people pleasing ways, saying no to a cult, dealing with teammate drama, and giving up on her dream job of a choreographer/interior design.

  • Fight, Flight, Freeze or Ferocious?
    2024/09/18

Gossip Folks! A great Missy Elliott song and also a topic that can seem somewhat unavoidable in a corporate setting. This week Courtney and Victoria are sharing their experiences with workplace gossip and their advice on how to handle uncomfortable situations. We also chat about the Olympics (feels like 5 years ago now), why you should stop using your work computer for personal use, Courtney's fear of bugs and if our stress response is flight or freeze. We'd like to thank Michelob Ultra Infusion for helping make this episode truly unhinged.

  • Deja Vu Quitting
    2024/09/04

This week is all about lessons in quitting! Some people are great at quitting job without burning bridges... but us? It's safe to say we might need a fire extinguisher or two. From horrible bosses to discontentment to sketchy situations to straight up boredom our experiences cover it all, and sometimes we have to do it twice almost like it's deja vu. Plus there's even an experience from the other side of the table that came back to haunt Victoria a decade later. Should we be punished 10 years later for the behavior of the past versions of ourselves? Oh yeah and Courtney hates her name and would like to be called Raven from now on...

  • Ace the group interview and get a surf board
    2024/08/28

This week Courtney and Victoria share their past interview experiences to get into the nitty, gritty of what they consider a red flag or a green flag. It could be that time that a potential employer invited you to an event to meet in person and they ended up not recognizing you (RED FLAG). Or maybe the majority of the leadership team is women (GREEN FLAG, at least for Victoria). We're diving into it all and sharing our thoughts from the candidate side as well as the hiring manager perspective. So what is the right amount of interviews? Are buzz words helpful or harmful? Are group interviews necessary? And what are some of the best and worst interview experiences we've had.

  • Introducing Pits & Peaks, should we be saying this?
    2024/08/21

Welcome to Episode 1 of Pits & Peaks, a new weekly podcast where Courtney and Victoria explore the highs and lows of life and their corporate experiences. We've realized that most of us share the same experiences, so why not embrace that and yap about it in a podcast? This week's stories include WTF moments like a chicken possessed by satan, unrealistic expectations for our first jobs after college (and let downs), a cake thief, and harsh lessons when you get fired.
