Playing Rubix Cube with Immigration Laws

  • サマリー

  • This week Stephanie Rodin chats with her guest, Eric Lorenzo. The two chat about shifts in new interpretations of the rules in immigration over the last 16 years, how greatly who is in office affects those changes, and what he would change about the immigration process.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • How he acquired an interest in immigration, and the deep roots where that began

    • What shifts he has seen in new interpretations of the rules in immigration over the last 16 years

    • What changed about the immigration process during Trump’s presidency

    • Why he was recruited to deal with the migrant crisis while Trump was in office

    • How The Family Unity Executive Order passed by Biden impacted Lorenzo’s practice and the lives of many of his clients

    • How long the process of gaining citizenship may take, based on what type of green card is being applied for and which branch of the government is being gone through

    • What Eric would change about the immigration process

Eric Lorenzo has been an immigration lawyer for 16 years and currently runs his own practice in Midtown Manhattan. He has represented and consulted several small and large companies, including publicly traded companies on their immigration issues regarding their employees. He graduated from the Delaware Law School in 2007 where Joe Biden was a professor. He was recruited to work with Mayor Eric Adams’s office to deal with the migrant crisis in New York City. He has spoken numerous times on various employment based and family based immigration topics with the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
