Welcome to the third episode of Psalms of the Epiphany, a weekly series of heartfelt reflections guided by one of our pastors, Alicia Divers. As a Spiritual Director and Somatic Practitioner, Alicia seamlessly integrates mindful awareness of the body into her pastoral work. Inspired by St. Ignatius’ imaginative approach, she pairs these contemplative practices with Nan Merrill’s beautiful paraphrase of each week’s Psalm.
For Further Spiritual Exploration, Enhance your reflection by journaling the following questions available in our series overview:
1. Think back to a time when you felt like you were truly flourishing.
What were the hallmarks of that season—what made it feel alive, grounded, or full? Do you feel like you are in a season of flourishing now? If not, what has shifted? What do you miss about that time, and what might be inviting you toward renewal in this season of your life?
2. Are there places in your life where you need to extend forgiveness—to yourself or to someone else?
How might withholding forgiveness be blocking your ability to flourish fully? Take a moment to reflect: What is the fruit of unforgiveness in your life? What is it producing in your heart, your body, or your relationships? And what might be possible if forgiveness were allowed to take root?
3. The psalmist invites us to walk hand in hand with goodness, stand beside virtue, and sit in the seat of truth—each a deeply embodied image.
As you reflect on these actions, which one resonates most with your current season of life? Where do you feel invited to walk, stand, or rest in deeper alignment with these qualities? How might embodying these postures shape the way you move through the world?
