GIRMIT – The Fields of Sadness: A Heartbreaking Story of Fiji’s Indian Indentured Workers 1879-1920 unveils the profound suffering, endured by Fiji's Indian indentured workers, known as the Girmitiyas. Between 1879 and 1920, 60,965 Indians were transported to Fiji to work in the sugarcane plantations under conditions akin to slavery.
