  • Hey everyone, it's Thanksgiving week. Time for episode 232. Will & TPP are taking a break and this is the first of some special reissues of older AGP episodes. We did a series highlighting Dialectical Behavior Therapy severeal years ago. We are going to share these episodes with you. Hope you enjoy.

    This week on Above Ground Podcast Will and Tim start their self care September with an overview of Dialectical Behavior Therapy. This form of therapy was developed by Marsha Linehan, to originally help people with Borderline Personality Disorder. It is incredibly useful for people facing overwhelming emotions. 

    DBT for short is a set of four skills;

    -Distress Tolerance

    -Mindfulness

    -Emotional Regulation

    -Interpersonal Effectiveness

     

    Like all skills it takes practice and perseverance. You can benefit yourself greatly by learning these skills in managing your emotions. Always talk to a licensed professional.
