#129: This week we revisit episode #34 with Andy Short. Andy joined us to break down the many stories that make up his life and recovery. With humor and wisdom, he shares the journey that led to his recovery... and the wild ride that came next. We discuss his story and more, including:

Content Warning: Discussion of suicidal ideation (thoughts of suicide)

    • How comparison was Andy’s first drug.
    • We hear about love and loss: how his mom supported him through many chapters of his story, and her words that changed the course of his life.
    • When he asked , "Do you want to hear The Gay Story?” we of COURSE said yes.... and you may be surprised to learn this story occurred several years into recovery.
    • And how Andy’s recovery community supported him through times that seemed impossible to survive, and why we show up for one another.

  • Billy and Liz: From the Perspective of a Supporter
    2024/09/10

    Send us a text

#128: This week we revisit an extra special episode featuring the story of a supporter of recovery, who also happens to be Liz's biggest supporter: her husband Billy. Billy and Liz take us through their journey as a couple during the hardest years of her alcohol addiction, and some of the challenges that arose in recovery.

This episode is especially for you if you have loved someone who struggles with substance use. However, we want to stress that every story is different. If you or a loved one is experiencing addiction and your relationship looks different from what we hear about today; your experience is just as valid, and your physical and emotional safety are the highest priority.
