  • NHL Legend Brian Propp Talks About His New Book
    2024/11/14

As a left winger for the Philadelphia Flyers, Brian Propp was constantly in motion, racking up goals and assists and amassing over one thousand points during 15 NHL seasons. In retirement, he scarely slowed down, chasing opportunities in business, broadcasting, and leadership.

But his life was changed forever on September 3, 2015, when he suffered a massive brain stroke. The life-threatening event temporarily took away Propp's ability to speak and walk. It required several years of dedicated rehabilitation just to return to normal life.

In Angel On My Wing, Propp shares the full story of his personal journey on the ice and beyond—one of triumph, heartbreak, then determination. Today, he provides hope and motivation for other stroke victims. This candid chronicle of rebirth through hard work, discipline, patience, and faith will resonate among hockey fans and throughout the recovery community.

  • Hanging With Blues Traveler
    2024/09/27

Blues Traveler is an American rock band that formed in Princeton, New Jersey, in 1987. They are known for their extensive use of segues in live performances, and could be considered a key part of the re-emerging jam band scene of the 1990s, spearheading the H.O.R.D.E. touring music festival.

The group comprises singer and harmonica player John Popper, guitarist Chan Kinchla, drummer Brendan Hill, bassist Tad Kinchla, and keyboardist Ben Wilson. Tad Kinchla and Ben Wilson joined the band following the death of original bassist Bobby Sheehan in 1999.

The general public is most familiar with the group from their hit singles "But Anyway", "Run-Around", "Hook", the latter two from their 1994 album four which sold several million copies. Fans are allowed to record the band's concerts.

Sheehan's death and Popper's struggle with obesity put a damper on the group's mainstream success, and A&M dropped the band in 2002. In the years following, the band has attempted to work with a number of independent labels and record producers.

Blues Traveler's latest album, Traveler's Blues, was released in July 2021, and was nominated by The Recording Academy for Best Traditional Blues album in the 2022 Grammy Awards.

  • Ben Vaughn Talks All Things Music
    2024/08/09

Born in Mount Ephraim, New Jersey, Vaughn grew up in Collingswood, New Jersey, outside Philadelphia.[2][3] At age 6, his uncle gave him a Duane Eddy record and forever changed his life. He started playing the drums in a garage band when he was 12, then transitioned to the guitar. After school, he would go to a local department store, where he would borrow the guitars and practice over chord sheets.[4] He attended Audubon High School.[1]

In 1983, he formed the Ben Vaughn Combo. The band was together for five years, releasing two albums and touring the U.S. several times. They received rave reviews in Rolling Stone and People magazines as well as video airplay on MTV. The attention inspired Marshall Crenshaw to record Vaughn's "I'm Sorry (But So Is Brenda Lee)" for his Downtown album.

Vaughn embarked on a solo career in 1988, recording several critically acclaimed albums, touring extensively in Europe and the U.S., and receiving more MTV exposure. During that period he produced three records for the Elektra Records American Explorer series (Memphis rockabilly legend Charlie Feathers, Muscle Shoals country soul singer Arthur Alexander) and recorded "Cubist Blues" a collaboration with Alan Vega and Alex Chilton. He also scored two films (Favorite Mopar and Wild Girl's Go-Go Rama), as well as appeared as a frequent guest commentator on nationally syndicated radio shows Fresh Air and World Cafe.

In 1995, Vaughn moved to L.A. and released "Instrumental Stylings," an album of instrumentals in a variety of styles. A guest appearance on KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic" led directly to being hired as the composer for the hit TV sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun. That '70s Show soon followed, and for the next ten years, Vaughn would provide music for a dozen other TV shows and pilots (Men Behaving Badly, Normal, Ohio, Grounded for Life). He also provided scores for several films (Psycho Beach Party, The Independent, Scorpion Spring) and continued producing records (Ween, Los Straitjackets, Mark Olson of the Jayhawks, Nancy Sinatra, and the Swingers soundtrack CD).

  • Meeting Derek Tucks & Susan Tedeschi
    2023/06/23

Interview with Marc Singer of Steal Your Peach about meeting Derek Tucks & Susan Tedeschi at Monk's Cafe in Philadelphia, PA.

    Learn More About Marc: https://marcsingerrealtor.com/marc-singer-bio/

    Steal Your Peach Band:
We are a mixture of some of hardest working musicians in the Philadelphia area including members or former members of Live at The Fillmore, Tom Hamilton's American Babies, Dead on Live, Rainbow Full of Sound, Splintered Sunlight and more, specializing in a mashup concept, fusing the music of The Allman Brothers Band and The Grateful Dead. Each of us has multiple projects currently both original and not, but have formed a bond here with some of our favorite and most influential music, paying close attention to detail of all of the original music, while also adding our own improv to the mix making each show unique and exciting, and to create a very tangible symbiotic experience between the band and the listeners. There is nothing like coming back to pay homage to the music that inspired us all to play. We have played Brooklyn Bowl, Trocadero Theater, Ardmore Music Hall, Musikfest Cafe, Underground Arts, Abbey Bar at Appalachian Brewing Company, River Street Jazz Cafe, Stout's Brewery.
