あらすじ・解説
Using research and knowledge about the brain, we can not only help parent our kids better, but help our kids develop their brains in ways that will benefit themselves, their future relationships and the world.
Today you will hear my conversation with Dr Dan Siegel, who is the executive director of the Mindsight Institute and founding co-director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA. An award-winning educator, Dan is the author of five New York Times bestsellers and over fifteen other books which have been translated into over forty languages. He was trained in attachment research and narrative analysis, focusing on how relationships shape our autobiographical ways of making sense of our lives and influence our development across the lifespan.

In this episode we cover:
- The difference between the left and right brain, and how to parent effectively using knowledge about our kids’ brains
- How to help our kids develop their upstairs brain, and know how to move them back upstairs when needed
- Dr Siegel’s hand model of the brain to help us remember the different parts of our brains (this will be helpful in all relationships, not just parenting)
- Mirror neurons and body language, how to separate between our own emotions, and the emotions we may be taking on from others
- Why teens and tweens need to push back against the norm (and resources and books to help in parenting teens and tweens)
