John Joseph Wiater, the Pennsylvania-born composer for the upcoming film I Think I’m Sick. Directed by YouTube phenomenon Danny Gevirtz, the film will be released on June 7 exclusively first on itisfilm.com. The soundtrack will also be released on June 7.
After an attempted suicide, Will must redo his senior year. Feeling like an outsider as school gossip circulates— his only regret is that he is still alive. Struggling for significance, he haphazardly joins the school’s cross-country team, where he meets Robin, the girl’s team captain who is unusually interested in Will’s past.
I Think I'm Sick is one of the first and largest feature films to come out of the YouTube creator economy, funded by filmmakers, the community, and through brand sponsorships on their channels with Sony Cine, Shotdeck, Artlist, and Milanote. The film score is a collaboration between John and fellow songwriter Matt Fell. The two grew up in an indie pop band together before scoring this project and were influenced by a Spotify playlist along with the script created by the director Danny to kickstart ideas for the score.
