Welcome to our podcast- Roots & Wings - raising teens.

A podcast for teen-raisers and teenagers hosted by Amy Wilson & Danielle Brown. We met at the school gates over 10 years ago and became firm friends. This parenting podcast will cover the big topics facing parents and teenagers today with a good dose of northern humour, honesty and integrity. 

When a plaster, a biscuit or an early night will no longer work… what next?! The teenage years present a whole new chapter of challenges and are rarely discussed but not anymore!

With six children between us -one tween, four teens & one cutie pie, we have lots of experience and stories to share. Every episode we get together over a cuppa in Amy's kitchen to catch up, share our tales of parenting teens and chat to other parents about how they are coping, or not coping! We’ll also get expert advice too - no topic is too tough or taboo to talk about.

Expect open and honest conversations, highs and lows, mum fails and plenty of LOLs. So whether you're a teen raiser, a parent of tweens or just want to join the club, Roots and Wings is here for you.

Is social media ruining our teenagers' mental health? How many times have you heard people (grown-ups) say “it’s all because of social media..” Is it inevitable that our teens will spend hours scrolling Snapchat, Instagram or Whats App while parents and carers worry about the impact? 

• On this very first episode of Roots & Wings we explore the pros and cons of social media. We look at how to manage social media usage with teens and what boundaries Amy & Danielle have used at home with their own teens and tweens. 
• Special guest Katie Woods, better known as @comedowntothewoods on Instagram, pops around to Amy’s kitchen for a cuppa and chat. 
• She tells us about her own career as an influencer and how she manages this alongside parenting her teens and guiding them on social media. There are lots of laughs and some great advice on this episode - Amy & Danielle leave no social media stone unturned.
