サマリー
あらすじ・解説
Jacqueline sits down with activist, author, and professor, Dr. Tamecca Rogers. Dr. Rogers discusses being raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma almost her entire life but never learned about the Tulsa Race Massacre until she was an adult. After learning about it, she authored several children’s books about the topic with her youngest son. In addition to spreading awareness about the burning of Black Wall Street – the Greenwood district in Tulsa that was occupied by Black residents and business owners, Dr. Rogers is also an advocate for the CROWN Act – a law to ensure protection against discrimination based on textured, race-based hairstyles. She even directed a documentary (Crown 2023) that features Black women sharing their stories about discrimination in the workplace related to their natural hairstyles. As Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Tulsa Technology Center, Dr. Rogers is raising awareness about the importance of real acceptance.
