Season 8, Episode 14 with Eric Shevrin

  • サマリー

  • Anna and Nick are joined by Eric Shervin to talk season 8, episode 14 of Below Deck.

SOME INFO ON ERIC'S ORGANIZING WORK:

Airbnb is taking over our cities. The Olympics and Airbnb even have a 10 year sponsorship! Corporate-run, illegal, and speculative ‘home-share’ hotels contribute to rising rents, evictions, and homelessness. Across the city, hundreds of tenants have been kicked out of their homes after profit-eying landlords rais

Once these units, or even full buildings, have been cleared out, landlords can convert them into hotels. When there are fewer homes to rent out, landlords then raise the rents on their remaining units, overburdening some of their tenants and displacing others. Think this should be illegal? It is!

So NOlympicsLA and Anti Eviction Mapping Project created an anti-displacement organizing tool that allows tenants and neighbors to share stories of illegal Airbnbs across Los Angeles. To report Airbnb activity in your community, go to NOLYMPICSLA.COM/LOCKS and learn more.

Both the Olympics and Airbnb are corporations that were founded on real-estate interests and the wealthy-tourist economy. They believe a city’s palatable corporate image comes before the lives of the poor. Let's fight back.
