The old man pushed on as the dirt road turned away from the river and drifted westward. That was a plus because he really didn’t want to go into the city.  

He was still on the outskirts of the great sprawl of Atlanta. There were more buildings here, not directly on the dirt road but visible through the pine trees draped with kudzu.
