    Welcome to our new mini-series where we explore how Confidence Enables Success. What does confidence mean to you? We define it as a general sense of capability in how we face new challenges and self-belief to keep focused on success during life's up and downs. In this first episode we focus on the impact feeling prepared has on how confident we feel inside.

    The opposite of the 'fake it til you make it' approach, we take a look at the benefits of taking the time to practice and invest the hours in the preparation process. Whether preparing for an interview, presentation, tricky conversation or renegotiating a boundary - doing the homework of purposeful prep empowers you to hold your nerve in that moment. If cockiness shouts, then confidence whispers and it can be inspiring to acknowledge that behind most success stories there has been hours of practice to enable and sustain that performance.

    As AI becomes mainstream in reducing task workload, sometimes there are benefits of going the long way around a challenge. Putting in the prep gives you the depth and self-belief that you know your stuff; even if unsuccessful in that moment, it may enable you to 'wing it' in a similar situation later.

    A useful listen for those looking to step up their confidence and empower themselves in their role, or boost others towards fulfilling their success.

    In this final part of our 4-part focus on Opportunity Mindset, we explore the concept of saboteurs - the things that can hold us back, sabotage our success and impact our confidence and overall sense of wellness and satisfaction in what we do. In all aspects of life, understanding how to ensure the things that motivate you (e.g. helping others) doesnt slip into the 'dark side' of self-sabotage (e.g. people-pleasing to the detriment of looking after yourself) we share tips for noticing, managing and adjusting to a happier healthier view of yourself. Useful for our own mindset, its a great framework to help others too. Lots of organisations are focusing on the benefits of kindness at work - and this is a practical way we can be kinder to ourselves and in turn to others (less judgement, more compassion).

    We pick off the top 9 saboteurs - take a listen and see which one/s may be holding you back without even knowing you do it to yourself.

  • 195. Shift Your Service Culture via Your Stroke Economy

    In this final part of our 3-part focus on service, this one is all about dialling up your internal and external service experience by focusing on the concept of the Stroke Index.

    We are thrilled to be joined again by our close colleague Lindsey Thompson who is an expert in Transactional Analysis and Team Dynamics. She shares powerful insights into how to clean up the internal atmosphere to create a shiny experience for your customer. If no-one is looking out for each other within or between teams, then this impacts even the most hardened of us at a fundamental level - our human need to know 'I matter' which creates belonging and commitment.

    Lindsey explains the concepts of Stroke Economy as part of your team health-check and how looking at your Stroke Index is the place to start when looking at building an internal sense of service. A stroke is a unit of recognition - think of it like a behavioural calorie that fuels our relationships. And when everyone is busy, it is even more valuable when we take even just a minute to check-in with each other. If you want to give a customer experience of time, care and respect - then this has to be felt inwardly between teams in order to keep providing this externally.

    For leaders (both formal and informal) this is a good reminder of the need to shift from transactional to relational interactions - getting to know your people beyond a superficial level. If leadership was all about just tasking and powering through a do-do list, then you wouldn't need leaders.
