The most serious social malady in America today is fatherlessness. It is the 800-pound gorilla in the room that no seems to want to talk about. It is a curse on our society that affects every area of society starting with family. The underlying common denominator of prisoners is not race; it is fatherlessness. Color of skin is irrelevant; the presence of a father is essential to impacting lives and effecting change. The statistics show prisoners are highly likely to return to prison. Furthermore, if a parent in a family is incarcerated in a prison the likelihood of one or more of their children being incarcerated increases dramatically.

How a society deals with repeat offenders (recidivism) and the multiplication of next generation offenders is critical to a society's ability to survive. The most prevalent factor causing this social malady is fatherlessness.
