Roz White currently stars as Tina Turner’s mother, Zelma Bullock, in the Broadway National Tour of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical . During her 39 years in the entertainment industry, Roz has performed in theatres across the United State as well as Europe and Asia. Many times over the years, she has collaborated successfully with writer-director Thomas W. Jones II in many productions including Bessie’s Blues, which garnered her the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Musical.
Roz starred in and received stellar reviews for her self-penned cabaret Pearl Bailey... by Request, which made its World Premiere at Metrostage, in Alexandria VA in 2008 and made its debut Off-Broadway in 2011.
Roz has recorded and toured with many artists including gospel music legend Yolanda Adams and has also worked as a featured vocalist with Stevie Wonder and the late Michael Jackson. Her newest music venture is called "Griot Soul" which merges her storytelling gift with the warmth and earthiness of her vocal styling. Her film credits include Black and Blue, and How The Day Begins.
Roz is a graduate of The Duke Ellington School of the Arts and holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Howard University. She also holds an M. Ed in Curriculum and Teaching from Northcentral University.
Roz is a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association and D.I.V.A. Incorporated, The Society for Women in the Arts.
