  • The Boys Season 4 Episode 8 "Season Four Finale"
    2024/09/14

Better late than never folks! On this episode of Small Screen Couch Commentary, Alex and Billy dive deep into The Boys Season 4, Episode 8, aptly titled "Season Four Finale" Buckle up, because this one’s filled with twists, shocking moments, and the usual dark humor that only The Boys can deliver.

The episode kicks off with a VNN broadcast where we learn that A-Train’s new movie has been canceled, much to Ashley’s delight as a tax write-off. The tone quickly shifts as Firecracker, The Deep, and Black Noir star in a cringeworthy "#AllLivesMatter" PSA, setting the stage for the madness to come. The real chaos starts with Hughie unknowingly proposing to a shape-shifting Supe disguised as Annie—a proposal that takes an awkward turn once the Shifter's disguise starts falling apart.

Meanwhile, Butcher faces a personal crisis in the hospital as he's visited by a hallucination of Kessler urging him to unleash the Supe-killing virus. Homelander, ever the drama king, finds a photo of Butcher and Becca in Ryan’s backpack, triggering a laser-fueled tantrum that sends Ryan running.

As the political stakes rise, Homelander drops a bombshell live on Firecracker's show by outing VP-elect Neuman as a Supe. The fallout is swift, leading to a scramble among The Boys to gather dirt on Neuman, only to find their evidence mysteriously gone. The real Annie, still chained up, breaks free in time for a brutal showdown with her shape-shifting doppelgänger, saving Hughie and the team in the process.

In true The Boys fashion, the episode ramps up with twists, turns, violence and mayhem. Things end with us all wondering the fate of everyone, good and bad as well as not being sure to feel about Butcher's actions. It is sad that it is over, for now.

Tune in to hear Alex and Billy's hilarious and insightful take on The Boys here on Small Screen Couch Commentary—you won’t want to miss our wild theories and laugh-out-loud moments!

The episode kicks off on the set of "The Avenue V Christmas Special," where a puppet A-Train lectures Ryan about antifa before breaking into a song that encourages kids to snitch on their parents. A-Train continues to help The Boys and the return of Butcher reveals to the team that he was behind Sameer's disappearance.

  • The Boys Season 4 Episode 6 "Dirty Business"
    2024/07/12

Welcome back to "Small Screen Couch Commentary" with your hosts, Alex and Billy! This week, we’re diving into the madness of The Boys Season 4, Episode 6, titled "Dirty Business." Brace yourselves for an episode packed with wild twists, dark humor, and more shocking moments than you can shake a Compound V syringe at.

The episode kicks off with Billy Butcher and Kessler (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) interrogating Sameer, who’s chained up in an abandoned warehouse. Butcher's not holding back, inflicting pain on Sameer’s amputation stump to coerce him into making the virus. Meanwhile, Butcher's own illness is visibly worsening, adding a ticking clock to their desperate mission.

In a lighter subplot, Hughie and Daphne take a walking tour through New York to scatter Hugh Sr.'s ashes, hitting up the romantic comedy spots from "Maid in Manhattan." Their nostalgic journey is interrupted by a Hometruther harassing Annie, and things get darker as Kimiko is turned away from visiting Frenchie in prison.

Firecracker takes over Cameron Coleman's VNN timeslot, spewing absurd conspiracy theories as MM watches while talking to A-Train on the phone. A-Train reveals the truth about Coleman and more about what is happening at Vought. MM plans to infiltrate a gala at Tek Knight's estate, recruiting Hughie to disguise as the arachnid-powered Supe, Webweaver.

Homelander, Ryan, and the rest of the Seven arrive at Tek Knight's mansion for the gala. Hughie, now in Webweaver's smelly costume, is planting bugs around the mansion when he’s caught by Neuman. She doesn’t recognize him, and neither does Tek Knight, who’s excited to show off his TekCave to his new "sidekick."

Things take a bizarre turn as Tek Knight and Hughie tour the TekCave and things go from weird to worst. Meanwhile, Annie and Kimiko convince MM to help them break into the mansion, fearing for Hughie’s life. They find Tek Knight torturing Hughie, and chaos ensues as they rescue him and take down Tek Knight.

Kimiko attempts to visit Frenchie in prison again, seeking solace and yet again is turned away. The episode ends with Butcher confronting the moral dilemma of using a potentially airborne, Supe-killing virus that could wipe out all Supes, including his allies. We also find out here whether or not Alex's prediction from the previous episode is correct or not!

Join Alex and Billy as they break down the wild ride of "Dirty Business," sharing their signature humor and sharp insights. Don’t miss this episode of "Small Screen Couch Commentary" for all the juicy details and hilarious takes!
