The newly released Antioch Declaration is causing waves on the internet.

The Antioch Declaration is a statement made by a group of respected Christian pastors and leaders, urging resistance against contemporary racial ideologies that they view as incompatible with the gospel. It addresses concerns over secular narratives, identity politics, and the rise of new cultural ideologies that they believe threaten biblical teachings. The declaration emphasizes the need to uphold Christian truth in the face of societal and political shifts, calling for unity under the authority of Scripture and opposing antisemitism, scapegoating, and secularism's influence in the Church.

In this episode we read through the Declaration and discuss each point, and the possible controversies that may arise from it. We also discuss the potential disagreements that will arise and the kinds of people who will likely disagree.

Spoiler alert - when people get upset at calling actual racism bad, they're probably actually racists.

Critical Race Theory and this "new" ideology smearing across social media recently are two sides of the same coin. Those of us who know how to spot unbiblical nonsense like CRT should be well tuned to resist this newest attack on Christianity, disguising itself as patriotism and love for neighbor. Just like the Left called vaccines loving your neighbor, and DEI loving your neighbor, and "reproductive rights" is loving your neighbor, this ideology on the "Right" is gaslighting believers into believing hating your neighbor is loving them. How long until it's on the doorsteps of your churches, and slithering its way into you pulpits just like CRT did? We should crush this nonsense now while we still can. Don't allow more churches to divide and crumble exactly like so many did over the past few years over the exact same stuff.

What does it mean to be truly reformed? Or truly anything? Definitions matter. It's enormously important to remember the battles we fought and how it shaped us and our theology. Especially the ones in recent memory. It's even more important to apply what we learned from those battles to our lives today and not fall into the same ideology that shaped our enemies. There's a ditch on both sides of the road and we shouldn't run so fast away from one that we fall into the other one.
