このコンテンツについて
This is an entertaining, heartfelt, funny, and sometimes silly interview with Dr Suzie J. Jarmain, an award-winning performing arts professional with over thirty years as a performer, actor, theatremaker and writer. We had the best time recording this interview, and it shows; I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it!
Suzie is an educational facilitator with eighteen years of experience in the tertiary, public, private and corporate sectors, specialing in working with and utilizing the relationship between identity and realistic acting, performance and presenting.
She has worked with performance companies across Australia and the UK, to name a few; the National Theatre of Scotland (UK), BBC Scotland (UK), North Edinburgh Arts Centre (UK), Melbourne Theatre Company (AUS), Victorian College of the Arts (AUS), Melbourne University (AUS), NIDA Open, Melbourne Actors Guild (AUS) and Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP).
In 2016, Suzie was awarded the Australian Phillip Parson’s Prize for performance-as-research from the Australasian Association for Theatre, Drama and Performance Studies (ADSA, AUS), leading to her presenting her acting research at national and international conferences.
She is preparing to debut her new solo work, which we discuss in the interview, a show that is creating new approaches to combining live performance with educational methods and developing different techniques for actor training.
She has published a number of articles
- Acting Dangerously: confessions of a Transformational Actor (ArtsHub 2022, AUS)
- Beyond Real(ism)- an investigation of the Twenty-First Century Transformational Actor and Identity (www.theofficial.net.au, 2020, AUS)
- An X, Y, Z Factor (Word Matters, 2020, London, UK).
It's a great interview with a wonderfully weird woman like me, please enjoy the episode with Dr Suzie J. Jarmain.
