So, it's been a little while. We lost the last mainline episode that we were supposed to release, so we are going to have to re-record that and get it out to you all. We apologise for that and will return to our regularly scheduled programming soon. We were intending this to be the re-recording, but it ended up being a meta discussion about how we want to handle the podcast going forward as well as some of our other content. Oh and I ended up talking too much about Call of Duty too. Look, the politics of those games are awful, but I suppose I have signed up to be our local CoD correspondent. It's...journalism, or something. I don't know. This was recorded prior to the results of the 2024 US Presidential Election. While myself, Hope, and Ryan are from the UK, Lost and a number of our friends and collaborators are from the United States. We may record another episode Post-Election to discuss our thoughts before we return to our regular episodes. That being said, I want to use this opportunity to let people know that this is going to be a really awful time for a lot of people over these next 4 years at the very least. Trump's new administration is most likely going to be carrying out horrific attacks on immigration, people of colour, LGBTQIA+ people, religious minorities, and more. There are many vulnerable people who will be harmed by the Christofascists about to elevated to the highest positions of power in the United States. If you have people you are worried about, please reach out to them. If you can offer any kind of shelter to people in your lives that you are worried about, please do. Please protest, donate to mutual aid funds, do whatever you can to help out anybody that may be suffering. We'll have some more on this in the coming episodes. Be safe and look after yourselves.

This episode we theorise that Stargate episodes have only three possible ways to begin, one of them being an off-world activation of some kind. We receive an emergency distress call from an unknown group of people, who are all white and hiding in a bunker, that they need help defending themselves against an enemy that is simultaenously strong and weak. Weird, wonder what this could mean. They are willing to give up knowledge of all their super duper cool technology in exchange for a bunch of hard water. This will not be used for evil weapons. This will not be used to eradicate minorities. Daniel suspects that this might be used to eradicate minorities. Only one thing can get in the way of the space nazis. Can they not be slightly racist in the presence of Jack O'Neill long enough to get their water? No, they're Nazis.

They made the gayest movie about being straight you could possibly imagine. Set in the 90s, hackers are apparently the cool kids and they hang out in the combined arcade, night club, skate park. Was this was New York was like in the 90s? I don't know, but take me back, take me back! Like half the cast of Trainspotting are here to HACK THE PLANET and take down the evil corporation...maybe? I don't know, the corporation in this movie is kinda not portrayed all that evil as much as it is a supposedly one bad apple situation. Kinda weird take for an anti-establishment hacker movie to take, but oh well. Weird incel dude got slapped with the "touch grass" legal ordnance after causing the stock market to crash as a child in the 80s. Now he returns to the computer scene, but seems to have most of his interest devoted to stalking tomboy short-haired Angelina Jolee. Take me back, take me back, take me back. Oh yeah, the gay hacker group's idiot friend and discord kitten got caught doing dumb bullshit and now they have to save him. It's a good movie, but it sure hasn't aged too great in some areas.

A heartwarming tale for the ages! You might be a down on your luck, ageing, failed boxer, but you too can fulfill the American dream of violating a woman's consent if a stern Irish man finally believes in you. I think that was the message of the movie. Either that or black people are keep doing the hard working Italian down. This is a movie from the 1970s and it reaaaaaaally shows it, folks. That being said, the parts of the movie where it isn't being viley misogynistic and low-key racist...actually pretty good, I suppose. Autism-coded Italian boxer rises against the odds to go toe-to-toe with the world champion. At least this Italian didn't back out after one punch, ayo! Rocky, a movie so classic they made it again and put a 2 at the end of it! Then they made it again. And again. Then they changed actors and turned it into almost a live action Shonen anime. That's kinda cool, I guess. Perhaps we'll do some more of this series as some point.

In 2004, a video game by the name of Doom 3 was released. A sequel to the blood pumping, fast-pumping, demon killing glory FPS series id Software created in 1993, this was a highly controversial release. Instead of being the ULEZ violating high speed Doomguy, you were a marine slowly trudging through dark corridors. People were kinda mad about this. In recent years, the video game has been critically re-evaluated as an excellent horror FPS that's similar in vein to a game like Alien Isolation. Why do I mention that as an introduction to the movie that came out in 2005? Because the movie is pretty much directly inspired by this game. People were mad at this movie because they didn't somehow make Doom 2: Hell on Earth into a movie, but took inspiration from the recently released video game that you can actually use to influence a movie. I love Doom. I love Doom 2. Doom 2016 was incredible and Eternal improved on everything that made those games fantastic. You can't make a movie that's really like that, it's a video game ass video game. Something, something Carmack "video game story is like the story in a porn". Maybe this movie needs to be looked at similar to how we look at Doom 3 now in some ways. That's something we discuss in this episode. Now, the movie is a cheesy B movie through and through, even if there are times were they utilise the lighting and sparing shots of the creeping horror in the station fairly well. But we enjoyed it. We went into this movie with everyone yelling about how they heard it's the worst movie of all time and something. Are you people on crack? This movie slaps. There's some aspects we dislike as we discuss in the episode, but overall we all had a good time. I guess nerds were mad because the BFG shoots a blue orb instead of a green one. Don't be mad at this for this one.

This is the story of how I find out who to beg for the video game prequels to be re-released on GOG from the abandonware licensing rights mines. It's also the story of how Vin Diesel, for his various crimes, crash lands onto Arrakis and has to become a Fremen to beat a bunch of weird creatures. Everyone is afraid of our boy Riddick, when they should be afraid of something far more dastardly. Something dangerous. Something deadly. Something lurking out of our reach. Colour grading. They don't do it like this anymore, folks. Is that good? I don't know, but I think they were cooking something with the filters over here that wasn't just the same brown MexicoArabistan scary country filter that's the only kind of colour grading we're allowed. This movie did come out before 9/11 after all. A simpler time. A time when we were still Islamophobic, but not in the same way. Oh Keith David is in this too. We like Keith David.
