  • Did Browns Loss Reveal Bigger Problems? | Steelers Afternoon Drive
    2024/11/22
Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith discuss all things Pittsburgh Steelers. On today's show, we discuss what went wrong for the team in their loss to the Cleveland Browns. The team wasn't able to keep Myles Garrett from wrecking shop against Russell Wilson and company. Despite winning the turnover battle, TJ Watt and company weren't able to make enough plays to keep Jameis Winston and company from scoring enough points to win this one. What did we make of the jobs done by Arthur Smith and Mike Tomlin. What's the concern level going forward? Let's go for another Steelers Afternoon Drive and discuss! Learn more about your ad choices. • Steelers Botch Rollout of Justin Fields Package | Steelers Morning Rush
    2024/11/22
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the rollout of a package of plays for backup quarterback Justin Fields against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night. Fields played in seven snaps of offense, rushing three times for 26 yards and attempting one pass that was incomplete. The Steelers' struggles in the red zone and in short yardage under Russell Wilson have been well documented, so in many ways, a package of plays for Fields made sense. But the Steelers didn't use him in those areas, eschewing Fields on a 4th and 1 for a handoff to Jaylen Warren and using Wilson on a two-point conversion to throw a fade route to Cordarrelle Patterson. The plays they did use Fields were a confused mess, with one procedure penalty and another play where the Steelers barely got the snap off and everyone's timing was disrupted. The Steelers can certainly use the talents of a player like Fields, but not in the manner displayed on Thursday night. Alan breaks it down. Learn more about your ad choices. • Can Steelers Victimize an Old Friend with Browns? | Steelers Morning Rush
    2024/11/21
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the matchup between Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris and a beat-up Cleveland Browns defense that includes former Steelers first-round draft pick Devin Bush playing a major role. Bush has been playing a lot since the Browns lost star linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah to a neck injury, and the 235-pound linebacker is not exactly known for his run-stopping prowess. The Cleveland defense has been leaking in general against the run, and the injury to Owusu-Koramoah and trading Za'Darius Smith to the Green Bay Packers at the deadline has made it worse. Can Pittsburgh take advantage? Alan breaks it down. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

    2024/11/20
Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith discuss all things Pittsburgh Steelers. On today's episode, we discuss the team being without Cory Trice Jr. again against the Cleveland Browns. We also discuss the weather that it looks like the teams will have to deal with and who it benefits. Mike Tomlin hasn't been good on TNF and especially against the division. Why is that and do we expect that to continue? Where is Justin Fields at in terms of the percentage of snaps he's played and could we see more of him this week? Where is Pat Freiermuth and can Russell Wilson get him going? Let's go for another Steelers Afternoon Drive and discuss! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

So how has Russ gotten the most out of the Steelers' resident alien? It's about more than just Wilson. Arthur Smith and George himself have been involved in the improvements, as well.
