The bill has passed the senate and is going through the house process now. The bill's sponsor, Javier Valdez, is originally from Moses Lake and stated the shooting at the Grant County Fairgrounds last August was part of the reason he proposed the bill. The shooter shooter recently pleaded guilty. However, both Grant County Fairgrounds Manager Jim McKiernan and Grant County Sheriff Joey Kriete have concerns on the implications of the bill.
