THE LIVED EXPERIENCE AND WHY IT MATTERS – AN INTRODUCTION

  • サマリー

  • This episode is an introduction to what makes up your lived experience.

    • I discuss our experiences as a learner and how these are relevant to our training and role as educators.

    • With reference to Vygotsky's theories of the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) and the More Knowledgeable Other (MKO) and I put forward my opinion that teaching and learning are reciprocal and take place simultaneously throughout life - not just in childhood and adolescence.

    • I focus on how the beliefs about teaching and learning which you experience in your place of work impact greatly on your wellbeing and confidence and identify the importance of having a setting which is a 'safe' place for you to learn and develop.

    • I invite you to reflect on your experiences of  training & CPD and to what extent they present knowledge, concepts and skills and highlight the need for a pathway to implementation so that you can put all training/CPD into practice.

    • Finally I offer you my  theory of ‘Enablement’ as the key to effective training & CPD and practitioner support.

After our discussion, I give prompts for next steps in relation to your self concept as a learner and educator and the culture of training and development in your setting, especially in terms of reviewing this year and planning ahead for the academic year 2023 - 24.

Finally I suggest ways that I can support you:
