The Artists’ Blend

著者: Austin Jeffrey Smith and Easton J. Curtis
  • サマリー

  • Hi friends! We’re just two artists pouring over different aspects of artistry and industry (like musical theatre, film scores, monetizing your artistry, and other cool artsy things) through the eyes of two analytical thinkers with degrees in theatre and music. We want to encourage ourselves and others to expand their artistry, explore creativity, and engage industry. Oh, and every episode, we sample a different brew of coffee as we talk, and give you our unfiltered opinion on it. Get it? Unfiltered? Lol. Anyways, we’ve got episodes coming out every Tuesday. So grab your mug, and let’s get talkin!

  • Ep. 43 - "Art" vs "Entertainment" (Public Perception of Quality)
    2023/12/29

Arts and entertainment take many forms all over the world. American culture tends to categorize certain types of performance as “just entertainment,” but not “art.” What is the reasoning for these categories, and why are some forms of entertainment viewed as lesser than? We’re asking today: where is the line between art and entertainment? And to clarify, though we often utilize the royal “we” in this discussion, we by no means are stating our personal opinions on classifying certain things as “non-art,” or lesser than. While in this episode we discuss the general stereotypes of the populous that perhaps cruise line performances, Vegas shows, or theme park entertainment is “low art” or of low artistic value, we do not adhere to these generalized perceptions. We highly value all forms of artistry and entertainment, and encourage you to as well!
