In this podcast, our son - a senior at Woodstock High School discusses a disturbing event. Aiden received an assignment which made him feel uncomfortable. He reported it to me (his father) - who wrote an email asking the teacher why the assignment was not posted on Canvas. I then posted the assignment on my campaign page - not identifying the teacher - and stating it was an inappropriate assignment.
Listen in as Aiden discusses the assignment, how it made him feel, what happened the next day as he was publicly retaliated against for my behavior, dismissed from class, and whether he would continue to report future assignments in this class to his parents as a result of the teachers actions.
Parents should have FULL access to all materials and assignments teachers provide to students in public schools. If teachers don't post assignments - parents cannot review the assignment or protect their children from inappropriate assignments.
